Teaching
  • Academic Affairs Small Grant - Community-based Engaged Learning -(see Faculty Resources Section)
    • Topic: Provide support for faculty to develop and implement community-based engaged learning experiences
    • Amount: $1000
    • Application Timeline (Fall Round and Spring Round): Fall Round: Application open September 1-15.  Spring Round: Application open February 1-15.
    • Notification: Fall Round: mid-October.  Spring Round: mid-March.
    • Award Continues Through: Fall Round: November of following year.  Spring Round: May of following year.
    • Deliverable: Academic course with CbEL project integrated
  • Visiting Scholars Program
    • Topic: External Scholar
    • Amount: ~$2500
    • Timeline: Spring visit (Apply in Fall - application deadline September 30)
    • Notification Date: October 15
    • Deliverable: Honors College dinner seminar, class lectures, talk delivered on area of expertise, etc.
Scholarship/ Research
  • Academic Affairs Small Grant Program (for information and awardees)
    • Topic: MURACE/provides seed funding for faculty research projects
    • Amount: Up to $5000
    • Application Timeline (Fall Round and Spring Round): Fall Round: Application open September 1-15.  Spring Round: Application open February 1-15.
    • Notification: Fall Round: mid-October.  Spring Round: mid-March.
    • Award Continues Through: Fall Round: November of following year.  Spring Round: May of following year.
    • Deliverable: Research Grant Report
  • Professional Leave of Absence Policy and Application
    • Topic: Research Leave
    • Amount: Salary
    • Timeline: Application must be submitted by October 15 of any year for a leave to begin the following academic year
    • Deliverable: Within one month of returning to the university, recipient shall make a report in writing to the dean of his or her college outlining the accomplishments of the leave
    • If the professional leave application is approved at the chair level, the Chair should provide workload coverage documentation to the Dean via email.
    • If the professional leave application is approved at the dean level, the Dean should email the Provost the workload coverage documents along with the Dean’s cover letter to provost@gcsu.edu.
    • Leave of Absence Policy and Form*
      • *This form is needed only if the Professional Leave of Absence is approved.
  • Provost's Research and Development Seed Grant Program
    • Topic: Research for Large Grant
    • Amount: $50,000
    • Timeline: Rolling
    • Deliverable: Grant Submission
  • Provost Summer Research Fellows Guidelines and Application
    • Topic: Stipend (time) to publish
    • Amount: 12% of 10 month salary
    • Timeline: Eligible faculty member should submit application to department chair by November 27. View guidelines for more timeline information.
    • Notification: January 15
    • Deliverable: Publication (Track Record) - see guidelines for more information
Leadership
  • Faculty Fellows Leadership Academy
    • Topic: This program is designed to provide a selected group of current faculty (associate or full professors and/or academic administrators with faculty status) with dedicated time to hone and develop leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting higher education.
    • Application deadline: Late September
    • Program timeline: November-May
  • New Academic Leadership Academy
    • This professional development opportunity is highly encouraged for all recently appointed (interim included) Department Chairs and Assistant/Associate Deans. For a full list of our Department Chairs, go to the Council of Chairs page.
